I absolutely loved the first book in this series, so I was excited to read this one. Unfortunately it fell flat for me.
To start with, I felt it was WAY too short, I read this in a few hours. Nothing was really fleshed out, explored, allowed to develop, or had time to breathe. It felt rushed.
Secondly, I didn’t feel as if Sterling had any redeeming features. There was an attempt to garner sympathy but again, it fell flat and wasn’t fully explored.
Third, I never got a confrontation from Victoria. I wanted it and I felt the story needed it. Every time she folded so easily and it was such a shame. I wanted her to stand up for herself to show Sterling exactly what he was doing to her and it never came.
I wanted great things from this book, but they didn’t come, unfortunately. 📖📖📖
